What “not spinning” usually turns out to be

A washer that fills, washes and drains but leaves the load soaking wet is rarely broken in the way people expect. In most cases one specific thing is preventing the machine from entering the spin cycle, and the machine does not always tell you what.

The most common cause on front loaders is the door lock assembly. The machine will not spin unless it confirms the door is secured, and when the switch inside the lock fails, the door reads as open even when it is shut. Worn shock absorbers

Drive belt

Drum bearings that have failed produce a loud roar during the spin attempt and often prevent full speed. On many models bearing replacement means dismantling the tub, and the labor approaches the value of the machine.

Redistribute the load. A single heavy item — a rug, a comforter, a duvet — sits on one side and the machine will refuse to spin rather than damage itself. This is normal behavior, not a fault, and it accounts for a fair share of “not spinning” calls.

Why is there no error code if something failed?

Because on many machines a failed door lock or worn shock absorbers are not conditions the control board monitors. It sees an unbalanced or unconfirmed state and simply skips the spin. From the machine’s point of view, nothing is broken.

My washer walks across the floor during spin. Same problem?

Related. Worn suspension causes both. There is also a simpler cause worth ruling out: front loaders ship with transit bolts through the rear panel that lock the drum for shipping. If the machine was installed without removing them, or moved and reinstalled with them, it cannot spin properly.
